"In Search of the Dao"

NTS 42 years in Norway

Wudang Culture Communication Centre Norway

The Norwegian Taiji Centre has during the course of 16 years established a close, stable, and deep dao exchange with Wudangshan Daoist Association in Wudangshan Mountain, China.

In 2008 we were a delegation of 28 from NTS who met Master Zhong and was moved and inspired visiting the Purple Heaven Temple. So much so that Bjarte Hiley returned the following years and became his disciple and lived with him for 4years. Bjarte was a dedicated student of Kungfu and acheived many gold medals in China and is to this day one of Master Zhongs most decorated and dedicated students. This adventure was followed up with a film which was made by Allan Hiley and film crew and was shown on NRK. (NRK teaser)

Master Zhong followed through this close dialogue by attending our 30 years Celebration at The Nobel Peace Institute in 2013 and taught his Kungfu and Taihuquan to NTS students.

We have returned on many trips duirng the years practicing both Taijiquan and Qigong together and exchanging the profound knowledge of Dao philosophy and movements.

During the Trip to China on 20th April 2025 the delegation of 24 arrived in Wudangshan.

Pamela Hiley was honoured to be presented with a plaque and receive the title of Norwegian Wudangshan Communication Centre from President Lui which we hope will in the future set a way forward towards a cultivation of a Culture of Peace within Norway.

The sacred Mountain of Wudangshan shares the origins of Taijiquan and Daoism with the world as an important Chinese National Cultural Heritage Site. In 1984 it was recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

Honourable President Liu Wenguo of Wudangshan Daoist Association esteemed masters, respected guests,

It is with deep humility and great gratitude that I stand before you today. To receive this plaque, symbolizing that Norway will now officially represent Wudangshan, it is not only a profound honor—it is a bridge between cultures, a recognition of shared values, and a promise for the future.

Wudangshan is known throughout the world as the spiritual heart of Daoism and the cradle of internal martial arts. For centuries, this sacred mountain has been a beacon of wisdom, harmony, and balance. For those of us in Norway who walk the path of Taiji Dao, this connection is not simply about technique or form—it is about embracing the essence of Dao: flowing with nature, nurturing inner stillness, and cultivating harmony within and around us.

The art of Taiji Dao—graceful, powerful, and rooted in stillness—is a living expression of Daoist philosophy. Through the study of the Taiji we do not merely learn to move—we learn to listen. We listen to the rhythm of the universe, to the quiet within ourselves, and to the legacy passed down by generations of masters who have walked this path before us.

Today, as this plaque is entrusted to Norway, it carries with it the weight of heritage and the light of future possibility. It represents a deepening bond between our two countries—one grounded in mutual respect, cultural understanding, and a shared commitment to preserving and passing on the treasures of Wudang’s traditions.

Let this be more than a symbol. Let it be an active exchange of spirit and learning—a way for our students, practitioners, and future generations to connect directly to the heart of Wudang and carry its spirit into the world.

On behalf of the Norwegian Wudang community, I thank you—deeply and sincerely—for this great honor. We accept it with reverence, dedication, and joy. May the Dao continue to guide our steps together furthering our friendship and future plans toward a Global Culture of Peace.
